‘Louis Armstrong’s Black & Blues’ 2022
Το ντοκιμαντέρ Louis Armstrong’s Black & Blues ρίχνει φως στη ζωή και την κληρονομιά του Λουίς Άρμστρονγκ, ενός από τους πιο σημαντικούς μουσικούς στην ιστορία της τζαζ. Μέσα από ανέκδοτο αρχειακό υλικό και τα ίδια τα λόγια του Άρμστρονγκ, η ταινία εξετάζει την πορεία του από τις ταπεινές του ρίζες στην παγκόσμια αναγνώριση, αναδεικνύοντας τον αντίκτυπο της μουσικής του και τον ρόλο του ως πολιτιστικού πρωτοπόρου στην Αμερική και πέρα από αυτήν.
“What is Jazz” is a Rhythm Hoppers project, led by Vassia Panagiοtou with members George Margaritis and Leandros Mavrokefalos, aiming to explore the culture of jazz beyond traditional classroom instruction.
Through open discussions, screenings and lectures the project invites all members of the community to delve deeper and explore what is Jazz, what is there to learn from it and how to give back.
What is Jazz / Movie Nights” are curated screenings of classic movies, soundies or documentaries that serve as a cinematic journey through the evolution of this iconic musical genre. Our screenings provide a vibrant platform for in-depth exploration, discussion, and appreciation of Jazz’s multifaceted legacy. Each session begins with a brief presentation highlighting the film’s significance and spotlighting the featured artists, followed by an engaging open discussion.
